The IT & Data Protection Department of WAN Avocats assists companies, public bodies, and individuals in structuring, implementing, and securing their innovative technological and compliance projects.

This support is also provided to entities not primarily rooted in the digital economy, whether facing occasional technological challenges or seeking to initiate a digital transformation—including in the management of their data.

Our team advises on all aspects of advanced technology law and personal data protection, including:

• drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IT contracts (hosting, cloud, SaaS, integration, maintenance, licensing, technology transfers, application management, outsourcing, subcontracting);

• legal advice and support in the implementation of digital projects, including those involving artificial intelligence, LegalTech, or cybersecurity;

• GDPR and French data protection compliance audits and implementation (records of processing, DPIAs, internal policies, IT charters, data-processing agreements, international data transfers, rights-request management);

• advice and assistance in crisis management (personal data breaches, cyberattacks, identity theft);

• advice and representation during investigations and sanctions by the CNIL or European regulatory authorities;

• assistance and representation in pre-litigation and litigation relating to privacy violations, digital or IT liability, information-system security, or infringements affecting components of innovative projects;

• training and awareness programs for DPOs and teams on personal data protection.

Adopting a cross-disciplinary approach, our team works closely with the firm's other departments to ensure coherent and comprehensive solutions to the often-complex issues arising in the digital environment.
